Sport is a valued part of life at Mary Help of Christians Catholic College. It provides opportunities for students to be active, develop skills, build friendships and contribute to the College community.

We encourage students of all abilities and experience levels to participate. Whether trying an unfamiliar activity, working towards a personal best or competing as part of a team, every student has something to contribute.

Participation and personal growth

Through sport, students learn to practise purposefully, respond to feedback and persevere when challenges arise. They also develop teamwork, leadership and the ability to manage both success and disappointment.

Our approach values effort, improvement and enjoyment alongside achievement. We want students to develop the confidence and interest to remain active beyond their school years.

House carnivals and College spirit

Our annual Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals bring students together in friendly House competition.

Carnivals provide opportunities to challenge personal bests, encourage classmates and build connections across year levels. Every student can contribute through participation, effort and positive support for others.

These shared experiences strengthen our House traditions and sense of belonging at Mary’s.

Sporting opportunities

Alongside Health and Physical Education lessons, students can explore sport through co-curricular activities and opportunities such as interschool sport and junior secondary sporting gala days.

As the College grows, our sporting program will continue to develop in response to student interests, available competitions and opportunities within the local community. Specific sports and participation arrangements are communicated to students and families as they become available.

Representing Mary’s with pride

The Mary’s Way guides how we participate in sport. Students are expected to play fairly, follow instructions, respect officials and opponents, and encourage their teammates.

Representing the College brings a responsibility to demonstrate commitment, wear the correct uniform and uphold our standards of behaviour. We celebrate students who compete with determination, show humility in success and respond to disappointment with respect.
